2008 Women's Recovery Retreat
The 2008 annual retreat's theme is “Becoming Whole: Working the Steps”. Participants use the activities, lectures and group AA meetings to help support themselves and other recovering women.
Recovery Inspiration e-Books
Lending Library of MP3 Players for women new in recovery including open AA speakers from international AA conferences and books related to AA program content.
Art As Therapy
AAWG sponsored a workshop that was both inspiring and fun. With the guidance of an art therapist, the group learned about mandelas, loosely translated from Sanskrit to mean circle, but whose deeper meaning represents wholeness. The center of the Mandela signifies what we want to be or what is important to us. Surrounding the center is an inner circle representing what pulls us toward the center, the outer circle represents what pulls us away.
Holiday Gift Outing for Children
This activity allowed women in in-patient recovery homes to receive funds in order to purchase holiday gifts for their children.
Social networking: Outings to NBA & WNBA games; Heart Association Walk
These types of activities allow members of the recovering community to network with each and meet new support people. They also allow members of the recovery community to be active in social events outside of directly related rehabilitation environments and see that they can function in these environments.
Mentoring and Assistance
Provide mentoring and technology assistance to women returning to school or higher education environment.
Provide transportation to AA/NA meetings.
