We hope this holiday season finds you well and happy. We are writing to ask your support for the non-profit organization that is closest to our hearts-and perhaps to your heart too!
The Ann Arbor Women's Group (A2WG), a section 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization, was formed in 2007 with a mission of creating opportunities for women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction to develop and sustain a healthy, sober lifestyle. Our focus is on helping recovering women, especially those in early sobriety, have fun in healthy ways, learn tools for sober living, and develop a network of recovering friends.
We each vividly remember how unfamiliar and daunting the world was when we were newly sober. A2WG fills that gap through monthly events for sober women, including one-day workshops that focus on specific recovery tools and individual spiritual development, and a 3-day retreat on Lake Huron. For many of the events, we provide on site childcare. Just to jog your memory, here is a summary of our 2011 events.
- January - Origami - The Art of Paper-folding
- February - Movie & Ice Cream
- March - Spring Mini-Retreat: Life on Life's Terms
- April - Drumming Circle at Crazy Wisdom Bookstore & Tea Room
- May - Hands-On Introduction to Massage
- June - Labyrinth - Spiritual Walk & Lunch
- July - Family Picnic at Independence Lake
- August - 3-Day Retreat: Beyond Resentment: Choosing Forgiveness & Gratitude
- September - Drumming Circle at Crazy Wisdom Bookstore & Tea Room
- October - Fall Mini-Retreat: Your True Treasure: Spiritual Growth
- November - Woman to Woman Luncheon with Open Talk
- December - Gift & Ornament Making
We who serve on the board of A2WG are an all-volunteer group of six women. We do our own planning, advertising, registration, and food preparation for each of our events. None of your donations are used for personnel, although we do pay a small fee to our retreat leaders and child-care providers.
We have spent a lot of time leading this organization, and would welcome your help in nurturing its growth. Please donate whatever you can to support the valuable services provided by Ann Arbor Women's Group. (Donations are tax deductible)
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors of The Ann Arbor Women's Group
