December 2007: Holiday Gift Outing for Children
Many women in early recovery are not currently living with their children. And, often, they are unemployed. Seeing this need, the AAWG sponsored a shopping trip for a group of women to buy gifts for their children. Each woman was nominated for the award in writing by her sponsor; the board read the applications and selected the women who demonstrated a strong commitment to their own recovery.
June 2007: Volunteered Services at Soberfest
Soberfest celebrated the positive changes recovery makes within our community. The event included fun family activities, food, positive messages about recovery. One benefit was to provide hope for those in need of recovery.
February 2007: Drop the Rock Seminar at International Women's AA Conference
Three AAWG board members presented a 2-hour workshop at the Internationsal Women's Conference in Detroit. The workshop showed participants how they could develop a retreat on the topic "Drop the Rock: Steps 6 & 7."
